Grof® Legacy Training Adria

A multi-year experiential training in transpersonal psychology and Grof® Breathwork facilitation

This is a comprehensive training in transpersonal psychology and Grof® Breathwork facilitation, with pathways into advanced training in psychedelic facilitation.

Rooted in the Grof® lineage and more than six decades of research into transpersonal psychology and holotropic states of consciousness — expanded states with healing, transformative, and heuristic potential — the programme cultivates psychological depth, relational capacity, and ethical discernment through reflective learning and immersive practice, with Grof® Breathwork serving as the central experiential modality.

The programme is held by facilitators with backgrounds in experiential psychology, breathwork, and relational work, with strong emphasis placed on responsibility, reflection, and lived experience. Within this process, certification as a Grof® Breathwork facilitator may unfold through the completion of all training requirements.

Further information on the programme structure, modules, requirements, and learning journey can be found in the Practical Info section, which outlines how the training unfolds across its phases.

WHO THIS TRAINING IS FOR

This training draws those with a genuine curiosity and an established relationship with inner work. They may come from psychotherapy, somatic practice, coaching, contemplative traditions, or sustained personal exploration.

What they share is a draw toward depth, a desire for structured engagement with the human psyche, and a willingness to develop the reflective and ethical capacities that this work requires.

Experience is the foundation. Reflection, responsibility, and meaningful integration are what the training cultivates over time.

A structured, cohort-based journey designed to support deep learning, experiential practice, and long-term integration.

The training unfolds gradually over three years, allowing space for reflection, embodiment, and meaningful professional and personal development between modules.

Each module combines theoretical foundations with experiential immersion, creating a learning environment that values presence, inquiry, relational depth, and practical application.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

THE WORK

Human artwork depicting figures holding hands in a forming circle, symbolising connection, unity, and collective presence.

This training is rooted in six decades of research in transpersonal psychology and the careful theoretical and experiential study of non-ordinary states of consciousness. Within this framework, such states are understood not as anomalies or disruptions, but as meaningful expressions of the psyche — carrying emotional, psychological, and existential content that deserves attentive and respectful engagement.

The training invites participants to develop the capacity to remain present within these experiences, to relate to them without avoidance or the impulse to control, and to integrate what arises into everyday life over time.

This process unfolds at each person's own pace. Rather than moving toward predefined outcomes, participants develop a stable and grounded relationship with their inner experience — one that supports both deepening self-knowledge and the gradual formation of professional presence and ethical readiness.

The Journey

The training unfolds gradually, with each stage deepening personal and relational growth.

The training begins with inquiry and orientation and continues as a developmental process through immersive practice, reflective integration, supported facilitation experience, and long-term professional development.

Alignment And Orientation

If this speaks to you, the first step is to get a clear sense of alignment. As part of the application process, you will be invited to complete a short self-assessment and, if you feel called, attend one of our monthly introductory webinars .

This offers insight into the work, the expectations of the training, and whether this path feels aligned with your current stage of development.

You can also explore the training schedule, module descriptions, and further practical information before deciding to apply.

From there, those who feel genuinely aligned are warmly invited to join the next cohort.

Along the way, participants deepen their capacity to remain present with uncertainty, engage responsibly with holotropic states of consciousness, and cultivate the relational and ethical foundations of facilitation within the Grof® lineage.

WHAT THIS TRAINING IS NOT

This training is not psychotherapy or clinical treatment.

It is not a conventional certification program, nor a method course, nor a shortcut.

Development at this level requires time, repetition, and genuine integration -  and the training is designed with that understanding at its core.

ETHICS & SAFETY

Working with expanded states of consciousness calls for careful attention to safety, boundaries, and ethical responsibility. Experiential processes may involve emotional intensity, trauma-related material, and other deep psychological content - none of which are problems to be resolved, but processes to be met with patience and care.

Participants are held within a structured and attentive environment. Facilitators hold space for individual processes and group reflection, offer honest and compassionate feedback and support each person's capacity for self-inquiry. Clear boundaries, non-directive facilitation, and ongoing integration support allow each participant to move through their process at their own pace -  with the assurance that what arises will be respected and understood.

Within this environment, participants gradually develop the relational and ethical capacities needed for this work — both for their own inner life and in preparation for accompanying others.

WHY THIS MATTERS NOW

Access to expanded states of consciousness has grown significantly in recent years. Breathwork, psychedelic experiences, meditation, and somatic practices have brought these dimensions of inner experience within reach of many more people. Yet the relational holding, ethical grounding, and integration support necessary to navigate these experiences safely have not always kept pace.

This has created a gap between experience and responsibility.

Many who encounter these states do so in contexts where adequate preparation, skilled accompaniment, and integration support is not always available.

This training addresses that gap - developing the psychological, relational, and ethical capacities needed to engage with expanded states of consciousness in a grounded and sustainable way.

It also supports the formation of facilitators who can carry this work into their communities with discernment and skill - contributing not only to individual development, but to a broader culture of responsible and meaningful engagement with the deeper dimensions of the psyche.

THE ADRIA REGION

This training is rooted in a part of Europe shaped by many histories, cultures, and encounters — a region where depth, complexity, and resilience are woven into everyday life, and where questions of belonging, identity, and connection continue to unfold.

Bringing this work here opens a space for it to reach those who have not always had easy access to such containers. It offers a context where personal and collective layers of experience can be met with compassion and care.

The training also welcomes participants from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, forming an international community of practice held together by shared human experience. Within this space, differences meet once again, alongside a deeper recognition of what connects us, continuing a long tradition of cultural encounters in this region.

In this way, the program contributes not only to the formation of skilled and ethical facilitators, but to something quieter and perhaps equally important: the gradual restoration of connection - within individuals, between people, and across contexts long shaped by both separation and exchange.

Considering the Training

Readiness for this training is shaped less by credentials, experience level, or professional background, and more by one’s current relationship to inner work — including the capacity for self-reflection, emotional responsibility, and engagement in a longer-term developmental process. The training is intended for individuals drawn toward sustained experiential inquiry, relational learning, and gradual personal and professional formation.
